Dec a Day’s Chalet Chic

This week we are exploring the wonderful world that is Chalet Chic and our final week of Dec’ a Day! Happy reading/day dreaming!

Christmas is upon us, dear Facebook friends! A new week means it’s time for a new theme- Chalet Chic and our final week of Dec and Day! “Christmas weaves a magic wand over this world, and behold everything is softer and more beautiful”– Norman Vincent Peale

As Arabella walked through the doors of The Prop House, Christmas carols filled her ears and she could see decorations littered throughout the space. Her stomach did a somersault with excitement- that time of the year again already! She couldn’t wait.

Ally flopped back into the soft, powdery snow. Moving her arms and legs slowly, she began to print a snow angel into the ground. Closing her eyes for just a brief moment, she felt a light, icy drop on her cheek. She stuck her tongue out to catch the flakes that had begun to fall from the sky…

Ready?
Ready!
1…2…3…pull!
The crackers contents exploded across the room.
‘What did we get?’
Jess crouched down to pick up a heart-shaped cookie cutter. She walked over to her partner with a crooked smile and said ‘I guess you’re baking tonight’.

Little Joe peeked out from behind the couch tentatively.
‘He’s late! It’s almost midnight’ whined Joe.
‘Joe!’ Whispered Martha as she yanked him back out of view. ‘We can’t let Santa see us!’
Joe frowned and hoped he would hear the sound of reindeer hooves soon.

Anna stood back to admire her Christmas tree. She had decorated it beautifully with ornaments she had collected over the years.
Frowning, she muttered ‘it just needs a little something more…’
‘Look what I’ve got!’ exclaimed her sister Ebony, bursting through the door.
Anna’s eyes lit up as she saw the box of LED twinkle lights from the Prop House.
‘Perfect!’

It had been one of the busiest days at work that Imogen could remember. As she sighed and looked out the window, her Small Hessian Tree, propped up on her desk, caught her eye.
She was suddenly reminded of the fun and festive times that lay ahead.
‘Come on Christmas…’ she whispered as she smiled to herself, already feeling better.

Dec a Day’s Contemporary Colour

Welcome to another week of Dec a Day stories. This week we are following the adventures of Holly the Christmas fairy with the theme Contemporary Colour – do enjoy!

colourful

Holly the Christmas fairy was crazy for colour. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, pink – any colour was her favourite as long as it was bright. All year, she eagerly awaited Christmas time – the time when she could wave her magic wand over the city and bring a little Christmas colour to everyone. As she was flying over Brisbane, a gust of wind from a summer storm blew her about and she dropped her wand. Flying low over the river she saw a sparkling light coming from above the Kangaroo Point cliffs and flew over to investigate. She drew closer and saw the sparkling light was coming from a building – The Prop House, and as she fluttered inside she was blown away by what she saw all around her.

colourful-5

Hanging overheard were sparkling finials in all the colours of the rainbow, twinkling and twirling about in the breeze. As she flew past, her wings brushed against them and it set her spinning in the air until she came to a stop where she saw…

colourful-6

Stars were all around her. Sparkling, shining, in every colour imaginable. Holly the fairy had never seen so many beautiful colours all in one place and she exclaimed “What is this magical place?” She heard a rustling from below…

colourful-2

Holly heard a rustle from down below and looking down she saw flowers glistening in shades of  ruby red, candy apple green, sunshine yellow and regal purple. The rustling grew louder and a head popped out of the flowers…

colourful-3

It was a purple gnome and as he emerged from the flowers he was shortly followed by a pink gnome and then another gnome, this time orange, and then another, and another, until she was surrounded a donsy of gnomes. “Hi my name is Gnoddy, how can we help you?” a green gnome asked her.

colourful-7

Holly’s eyes began to fill with tears as she told them the story of how she had lost her wand and didn’t know where to find it. She buried her head in a wreath that was beside her and as the tears fell from her eyes the wreath slowly began to turn from blue to orange to green until finally it turned the most spectacular shade of fuschia pink. The green gnome patted her on the back and said “There, there, don’t worry, we’ll help you find your wand in no time at all!”

colourful-4

The gnomes and Holly the Christmas fairy searched all throughout the Prop House, overturning Christmas crackers and baubles, searching behind Christmas trees and under reindeer hooves. They had nearly given up when Gnoddy shouted from a pile of shining leaves “I’ve found it!” Holly cried out with joy and hugged her new friends one by one to thank them for finding her wand. She was sad to leave them after all they had done for her, but they told her not to worry, they would be back every year, at Christmas time. She promised to come back and visit every year and with a flutter of her wings and a wave she was back on her journey and couldn’t wait to tell her friends at home about the amazing colours she had discovered at The Prop House.
